November/December

Over the last couple of months, Nursery have really enjoyed our Transport and Celebrations topics. Our key texts have been 'The Train Ride', 'It's a marmalade jam', 'you can't call an elephant in an emergency', 'The Christmas Story' and 'Dear Santa'. We also had a lot of key events in between these topics, such as Anti-Bullying week, where we spoke about how we can be a kind friend to each other and made a lovely handprint heart for our classroom wall. We also enjoyed wearing odd socks which led us to matching odd socks for a maths activity. The children also learnt about Children in need and Remembrance day and also Bonfire night.

Nursery have been continuing with their learning of Ten Town numbers, we have reached Nina Nine now and the children have really been enjoying learning about the numbers and the characters. We have also continued with practicing our careful counting and saying number names in the correct order. We have also been learning that the final number reached is the total number. The children have also been learning about 2d shapes.

Nursery have also had more opportunities to practice their name writing, such as on their letters to Santa. If you could continue to practice your child's name with them at home that would be great thankyou!

We have noticed that the children are becoming more independent with putting on their own coats and shoes which is fantastic- thank you for your support at home with this.

Finally, we are so proud of all the children for how well they performed in their nativity to parents, and how well they behaved for their Christmas trip to the Macready Theatre, they are absolute superstars!

12th November

Today is Antibullying and Odd Socks Day. Wearing odd socks is a way to celebrate what makes us different and to express our individuality.

11th November

Today as a school, we took part in Remembrance. We have been very busy creating our own poppies.

September/October

What a fantastic start to Nursery all the children have had! We are so proud of them for how well they have settled in and learnt our routines. Over this half term our topics have included, 'All about me', and, 'Bears/Autumn'. We have read some lovely stories linking in with these topics, such as 'We're going on a bear hunt', 'Goldilocks and the three bears' and 'Owl babies', where the children have listened carefully and attempted to ask questions all about the main events and the characters.

Through these topics the children have enjoyed a variety of expressive art and design activities, such as creating each of the scenes from Bear Hunt, experimenting with different resources such as cotton wool, mud, paint, tissue paper and pastels. They all created an Autumn hand print tree which look lovely on our Nursery display! Our bear topic also ended with a Teddy Bears picnic with parents in the hall and the children really enjoyed engaging in the activities, such as decorating a biscuit, bear yoga, making a bear mask and joining in with parachute games. Thankyou so much to parents/Grandparents who came along.

We have also been starting to practice writing our names by tracing over the letters and in order to help the children with their pencil grip and fine motor skills, we have started to do dough disco each morning.

The children have also been introduced to Ten Town, where we will be learning all about a new number each week. So far we have learn 0 (Zero Pond), 1 (King One), 2 (Tommy Two) and 3 (Thelma Three).

Over the October half term, if you could practice with your child becoming more independent with certain things, such as taking off and putting on their own shoes and putting on their coat (and having a go at zipping it up) that would be great thankyou as we have been encouraging the children to have a go at doing these whilst at Nursery.

Our topics after the half term are 'Transport', and 'Celebrations'.

Any photos of home learning from home please pop them on to Evidence Me as we do love to see these!

Nursery's first week!

We are so proud of all the children for their first full week, they have all been superstars and are settling straight in to Nursery life! We are very proud of them. They have been busy exploring our environment, both indoors and outdoors this week and beginning to familiarise themselves with our rules and routines.

Our topic is 'All about me' and they have been busy painting their own self-portraits, learning about similarities and differences between us, and enjoying looking at the lovely family photos in our home corner and talking about our families. Please can we remind you to bring in a family photo if you haven't yet, as the children really do like looking at these. In a couple of weeks we will be moving on to our Autumn/Bears topic.

Just a reminder too about naming everything please, the children take jumpers/shoes etc off every day and it would make it much quicker for us to find who they belong to!  Thank you so much!
